Coaching Psychology for Individuals Who Want to Grow
We work with people who are managing stress, low mood, burnout, self-doubt or life transitions, but who don’t necessarily need or want long-term clinical therapy.
Research shows that around four in ten people who seek counselling are looking for support with life stress, low mood, or other non-clinical concerns (Kessler, 2007).
For these kinds of experiences, counselling can still be highly effective (Buntrock, 2024). In managing these challenges, studies report that clients typically attend 12-20 sessions, though some continue for 40+ sessions. This results in an average cost of £2,800 at average UK counselling rates (King, 2018; Select Psychology, 2023).
By comparison, coaching psychologists often work for a shorter period and in a structured way—typically 6 to 10 sessions agreed in advance and focused on clear goals, costing approximately £1,000.
Research suggests that for people managing mild emotional or motivational challenges, this approach can be just as effective as counselling (Barkham, 2021; YouGov, 2024) and achieves its goals in a developmental rather than a clinical context.
